Worry is a learned response. We learn to worry from:
i. EXPERIENCE. Out of years of mistakes, failures etc, we form the habit of worrying.
ii. EXAMPLES. Models around us, maybe our parents, friends etc.
Since worry is a learned response, then it can be unlearned!
"An anxious heart weighs a man down” (Proverbs 12:25 NIV).
Worry cannot change the past nor control the future; instead, it only makes us miserable today.
Worry exaggerates the problem - when you worry about a problem, it only gets bigger.
- adapted from Rick Warren's daily devotion
"Lord, teach me to pray instead of worry - to turn all my worries into prayers."
“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life” (Philippians 4:6–7 MSG).
